Happy birthday to daddy

For e past wk, Ian was getting excited abt daddy's bday. For some reason, he seemed more aware of birthdays this yr. he initiated to make daddy a card n in it he wrote 'thank you for fetching me to school'. There is alot of things daddy did for him but guess its e fetching him to Sch that made e top list coz he knows daddy rushes to work every day but he still made time to send him to Sch. There was this once daddy was so late that he dropped him off n told him to walk up on his own n he proudly shared it w mum abt this 'new' experience but when asked if daddy could do it fm then on, his reply was 'i still prefer daddy to send me off upstairs' hee it's nice to see them both holding hands n walking to car park daily.

On fri, we had celebration at ah gong n po2's pl n dayi got a nice choc cake for daddy. The kids made sure it was only daddy blowing out e candles haha maybe coz of previous experience at ah maa's pl, they were playing safe. Forgot to capture a shot but it was nice sharing bday there.

Yest, eve of daddy's bday we made a trip to JB hee for daddy to spend time w e 2 kids while mama went salon. Nice treat for mama as both kids went arcade w daddy for e joy rides, think Joann enjoyed it alot more coz she could 'roam' ard...see e pics of them so happy at a dim sum pl we found n later at e arcade.

Today, we had a nice bday lunch together n then bday celeb at ah gong ah maa's pl n daddy was reluctant to celebrate there coz guess when u r grown up, u r not too keen to do it but we got a cake anw n persuaded him to bring it there. Ian was shocked when he 1st heard daddy din wanna celebrate there. Ya it's for e kids. Anw a v brief celeb there as we all had a hearty meal over steamboat. Then coming home, Ian was most ready to do it for e 3rd time coz he made a checklist of things which we din do proper hee which is cake, candle lighted, knife, blowing out candle hee. We bought a mini cheese cake fm iciban boshi n this was e 3rd cake, it was cute to see e boy getting all e stuff ready for daddy except e lighted candle. Our boy is such a bday boy haha anw happy birthday to daddy who has taken so much effort in being there for e growing up yrs of e 2 kids n truly pray for more blessed yrs ahead!

Oh discovery center....

We hv been to discovery really often n kindof know every corner of it n yet Ian is still not bored of it. Tdy, we went there for e movie 'Wreck it, Ralph', an interesting show of how a bad guy wanna turn Gd n ended up realizing he's best at his original role. Hmm a little too deep for Ian but he enjoyed e 3D show still. Prior to that show, we watched another 3D show abt air racers which Ian felt a little bored but informative for us adults as it showed of real life racing in e air hmm it was a 45 mins show both kids had to sit thru hmm not bad to hv 2 shows back to back

N for e gallery, we went a round n Joann is more active, wanting to walk n explore while we hv fun but had to make an exit aft show as Joann poo-ed tho Ian would love to stay ard to see e exhibits again well we can come back again n we shld...

Ian is 5 yrs n 10 mths old

This mth, we had partial Sch hols n back to Sch. For e hols, we had more outing to e zoo, legoland n more time at po2's pl where Ian did tang yuan n his popiah. Ya hols passed so fast n e last part of e yr he fell sick, bad stomach flu which made him throw up several times n that was how we ushered in e new yr as he started Sch he was still not well. Miss a day of Sch n e that virus took a wk to fully go off. For a food lover boy, he was in fact rejecting alot of food for that 1 wk coz his tummy couldn't take. For that 1 wk, we learn to appreciate Gd health n even food loving boy, yes just so glad e usual food n fruit lover boy is back!

Entering into k2 is a leap for e new yr as he shld expect gradual pressure coming in for work n spelling n stuff but he's cool abt it. He is getting more mischievous, wonder issit fm Sch but do observe he gets tougher at po2's pl n tries to challenge his boundaries but only to meet more cane marks sigh. It's time to teach him obedience n to speak kind words n not anyhow shoot words fm his mouth. Time to shepherd e boy's heart n it is getting tough...guess w e new yr, more time to spend to shepherd his heart as we do devotions together daily b4 he starts on his work n with e teachings he is getting fm Sch, hope that really help. In e next mth, will see more Sch work coming in on top of his Chinese enrichment class work. Time to gear in e new yr...

Start of Chinese enrichment class

Yes, we succumb to enrichment class for Ian just coz hanyu pinyin is not included in his Sch cirriculum so we looked for class to teach him on that. We nv wanted to b parents who send kids to enrichment class, so e class we send in prior were mostly art n music n swimming but this yr, we signed up for berries Chinese class.

The boy was a little nervous b4 e class n looking at e downpour b4 class, he told mama maybe we don't go but still made him go. It was a 4 train stations away but had to change train twice sigh but e boy who hardly takes train loves it. Anw when we got there, he was ushered v quickly to his k2 class, which was a prep class for P1 n well being a wkday class, he had e privilege of only 4 students in e class to 2 teachers.

The an hr n 45 mins class passed fast b picking him up took a while coz needed to find out if he was on pace to join e class n whether he felt comfy. Guess he liked e class as nothing too intimidating n teacher commented he wrote neatly n nice (haha he only gets complaints fm his mummy abt his handwriting) n he could read except e pronunciation not v zun hee that was why we sent him here coz feel his Chinese has this English ascent somehow hee. Hope he improves on that n with that, we signed up for a term n he looks v happy w his berries bag n for this 1st lesson he learnt e phrase 四脚朝天 hmm seriously we din learn this at k2 rite. It's so tough to study these days sigh

Our 7th wedding anniversary

Yes, 7 long yrs n 2 lovely kids. It hasn't been an easy journey but we thank God for seeing us thru e 'storms' of married life. It isn't gonna b any easier but we trust God to b alongside w us. Even as we see e many sea creatures today n how each look n name different, we r reminded that we r in God's tender care. Even as Ian is asking alot abt how can God care when there is so many of us n He doesn't live with us, we just have to know He's here n He knows our every thot n move. Yes, we trust more yrs ahead n we r still counting. Yea, now our son is old enough to help is capture a shot n see how neat KE's handwriting can b on e sand haha

Our playcation 6-7 Jan 2013

A truly unexpected hotel stay as daddy did e booking which was rare but guess for e kids n e wife, daddy booked this hotel stay at festive hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It's been our 'practice' to stay hols as e past yrs but now w Joann with us, it adds double e fun as somehow e kids enjoy it more. Yeah, were asking Ian if it's his bday as he couldn't stay smiling abt this staycation or playcation as we read it in sentosa.

We started this playcation aft church yest as we had lunch at e Malaysian food street in sentosa n to our surprise, we could check in early n we hit e pool. Quite a fun pool w all the splashing jets n spent a Gd hr there b4 going vivocity to get our stuff n also dinner. Came back hotel for some fun coz e kids love playing at e loft bed n we then went for our nite program yes, that's e crane dance which was impressive at how 2 robotic cranes danced n with much effects w fountains n even ended with fireworks. A brief fireworks but it burst in front of our eyes n not too loud for e kids n later we went for fountain music at lake of dreams. It was a long nite but glad both our kids went thru wo any fuss.

The next day, we headed to e beach aft bf n Ian was having so much fun making stuff n so happy mei2 could join him as its her 1st sand play n it's been ages Ian had sand play too. It was hot sun n soon we scooted back to hotel as Ian had requested more water play. Just so thankful for e Gd weather tho we all did get a Gd tan.

We then went HRC for a hearty lunch n again it seemed Ian was enjoying himself so much. No wonder he wants more hols n hotel stays. We then went to e aquarium n maritime experiential museum which we saw beautiful sea creatures n it was a Gd time naming all of them. We were awed at e beautiful sight of them n wanted to capture so many shots of them as Ian also asked for camera to take pics. We spent some Gd hrs admiring them n also e typhoon theatre which was so real, think e kids got frightened by e 'real ness' of going thru a typhoon with boat rocking n all. It was a Gd experience n guess now Ian is old enough to appreciate these stuff.

Yes, somehow fun ends fast when u r enjoying it n Ian was asking when is e next hols. Guess he truly loved e fun as he bade farewell to festive hotel n strange, he kept saying he's in malaysia tho we hv been telling him we r in spore hee maybe we hv been to msia too often for him to do e association but it was fun just spending such days monkeying together as a family. Thanks to daddy for this little unexpected surprise for us all
