Methodist Heritage Trail - Visiting mama's OLD SCHOOL

Today was the day for Methodist Heritage Day and it was supposed to be a fair at the Old School (Mt Sophia Rd) and then it was to take bus and tour 3 of the methodist churches for the history of methodism which started in Singapore and we did contemplate for a long while whether to go coz not sure how's the bus ride and whether it will pass Ian's nap time and well ended up we decided to go BUT doing the tour on our own.....we parked at PS thinking we could walk up to the Old School BUT the usual pathlink is no longer there and therefore we had to climb the so-called 100 steps to the Old School (mama used to walk up to go to her sch and it din prove to be so tough till today, we were panting at the end of the flight of steps) and Ian did it on his own except when coming down, he just din wanna walk anymore coz we walked too much round the school!
This is the entrance of the Old School - that's the name of the sch and that was what mama was telling Ian as well that we will be visiting mama's old school and the entrance still looked the same and how we (ie mama and her classmates!) used to take pics sitting on the ledge just on top of the school name and the little tower behind where mama used to meet her CF friends for BS during recess time hhmm lots of memories flowing....
So much memories as we tour ard the school and took quite abit of pics ard the sch but selected a few to post on the blog, this was specifically taken coz it was mama's Sec 1 class room but now it has been transformed into some commercialised office (we think! ) and below was where mama used to attend the many prayer meets with the fellow CFers (and often had to dash for our assembly ie where we are standing now coz we could get carried praying for the many requests!) and also the library is on the same floor and that time mama did some crazy fun stuff at lib as well.....so so much memories!
Well there was a mini fair set up for all to play while waiting for the bus ride, and we were 1 of the first few to reach since we din take the chartered bus and here's with his endless tries at the 'Give me a 8' game and the idea was to roll a ball on each lane and both numbers must add up to 8....never mind the 3 yo who can't add nor could he even see the numbers from where his head was levelled at....he just had endless rolls of the balls and the ICs were just allowing him to have endless tries even when his balls kept going off lane....what fun he had!
Next was to use up the coupons the goody bags came with and this boy who had his lunch at PS just now, still could eat more chicken wings and he just couldn't stop for a time, we used all our coupons for his drumsticks hhmm guess his fav part abt the trail was the FOOD!! hahaa well it was nice to be back to mama's sch with daddy and Ian....its been 20 yrs wow....haven't quite stepped here since mama graduated from uni coz came back with some Sec Sch friends to take our convo pics here....gd that the Old School is still ard and guess we could come back again some day to perhaps take a sip at the cafe there??

Ian skipped his nap today!!!

For the recent wks, it has been tough getting Ian to nap in the noon and it's even tougher at po2's pl coz he knows how to play ard at po2's pl since no one will coerce him to nap early so today, having waking up only at 8am+ (coz he slept only past 11pm last nite) he couldn't get to sleep for his nap and decided to tell po2 he's gonna skip his nap and when po2 called mama at 4+ we were worried he can't stretch till we get there and worse he might fall asleep on the way home

Well well po2 occupied him with chores like mopping of floor and even brought him to playground to distract him with things that he won't feel sleepy and on the way home, the sleepy looking boy was easily kept awake for 1st leg of the trip with apples and talking abt his fav train home and ERP gantries and when nearing home, had no choice but to let him munch on some biscuits as his garfield eyes looked like he was gonna doze off and we made it home (tho daddy had to carry him back from car park as he said his legs were wobbly!)

Thinking that he will zoom into bed....no, he asked to play i-phone for a while but soon he was easily persuaded to go into bed guess his eyes were abt to shut but when in bed, he was still chatting with mama abt everything under the stars and mama had no choice but to ask him to sleep so he could have energy to wake up to play tmr and well he finally slept after being awake for 12.5hrs!!! This is a record and well suddenly a thot came to mama's mind, maybe shld hv enrolled him for noon class so he could be stretched and sleep early at nite and mama dun need to fret making it in time for the 8;30am class.....anw only 2 more mths guess will see how but its sure tiring to keep him awake wo nap for whole day....lazy mama again hehehe but sure treasure the quiet moments during his nap time in noon =) this came far too soon!

Sushi sushi for the SUSHI LOVER!!!

Yeap for some mths this boy has been crazy over sushi and often mama is tempted to just go to Sushi deli or Sakae near our pl for lunch which is quick easy to settle Ian's meals but its ex to go on such meals often and last wk the boy requested to make sushi when he found the sushi mat in the drawer while mama was cooking away so over wkend got the seaweed and made lunch and dinner with sushi and boy, was the boy super happy abt it and mama made smaller rolls (ie lesser rice coz its scary how much more rice we were consuming each time we have sushi meals) and Ian had 1 roll for lunch (tho he complained it was not ENOUGH) and he had another roll for dinner (and he asked more from daddy when daddy came back for dinner) together with yong tau foo soup and making sure he eats vege and carrot together with the sushi!

Well well this is super cheap to make on our own except its just fried egg coz Tamago is too tough to master (tho Winston did teach mama some time ago) and not worth the effort coz with fried egg and tuna, mama also won the thumbs up from the little boy who couldn't stop praising mama that her sushis were YUMMY!!! hahaha what an easy task to make the boy happy and at the same time it was easy way to whip up 2 meals for a day ! Guess mama will do this more often till the boy says ENOUGH of sushi hhehee =p

Ian's 1st visit to Singapore Discovery Centre

Dunno when was the last time we ever went the Discovery Ctr but it was closed for reno for some time and today we went there coz daddy has been saying abt going there to watch movie and well we checked out there is a 3D show 'The Magic Journey of Africa' and it was showing at 9:15am and so we rushed off after having an early bf and we were in time for the show and here are the kids excited b4 going into the theatre and this was their 1st 3D show but weren't too used to wearing the 'glasses' and Ian often chose to watch w/o it and in fact he was hoping the show was like the Toy Story and before entering we saw they had many films shown there before and we could come back again since daddy could apply his company's pass which could admit 4 and it was quite cheap for the kids to watch movies there yyeeaahh we found new place to watch movies at a cheap price =) =) =)
Then after the 1h show we went into the gallery to see the exhibits and they were really quite high tech hehheee alot of 'live games' could be played and the kids enjoyed this ROBOT the most, there were 2 robots at the gallery, they were so thrilled with this Junior George who could reply to whatever questions they asked ie Seth asked 'if u do fight' and he gave a diplomatic ans which was 'No, fighting is no gd!' and we asked abt his family and he told he has other brother called Little George and this was the one in the pic coz the Junior George was just an image whereas Little George has a figure for the kids to talk to tho his voice was more kiddish and softer....the robots were so reponsive and SMART and we were surprised how they replied to our answers hhhmm if only we could hv a robot to entertain the kids all day long hahhaa endless whysss could be answered =) After walking the gallery, we rushed for the bus tour to SAFTI MI which was really nearby and mama has been to SAFTI many times (coz of work) but never knew all the meanings behind the structures and building and this guided tour was an eye opener to all that was on the BIG plot of land and we weren't allowed to take pics but did take 1 before the bus moved off.....it was an enlightening tour to SAFTI esp it brought back many memories for mama esp the Warriors Hall where so many town halls were held and mama even part of 1 organisation team....anw were also preparing the boys of ARMY life coz they have always been talking abt army and today they saw many soldiers....well well they gotta be gd to be in the cadet sch huh.....well that will be many yrs later huh, could come back again to prep them since public can't quite go into the place except this organised tour by discovery centre

At the bus bay was this hawk plane we had to take since it looked real impressive and actually there were more ard the place and more to explore but it was getting near to lunch time so we could head back again next time to explore together with another show coz there was still the Army Museum and more 'games' to play.....anw we were just glad we are 'friends of daddy's coy' so we could come back anytime with daddy applying the pass of course hehheee what a gd excursion for the kids as well as for us!

Mummy, can I do dancing???

We were shopping at Daiso some Sundays ago and came across Halloween customs and this reindeer band was 1 of the few we saw and were quite surprised it was a Halloween outfit hehhee and this boy just had to wear it and was dancing in it!

Recently, Ian has been asking mama if he could dance and mama would ask him to do back at home hehehe and he will do all his dancing when at home and it can be quite hilarious well well this shot was quite funny too, don't u think he looks real happy dancing with the band?? Anw this is the profile pic on mama's iphone for daddy's contact and whenever daddy calls, mama will just grin coz the boy makes mama wanna laugh hahaha enjoy being the one who brings cheer to our lives!

Curry curry....

For some time, Ian has been eating up his prata and looking at how his other cousins are dipping into the curry with their prata and finally last Sat he decided to have it a go and here's him taking prata with it dipping into curry. Hmm both mama and daddy love hot stuff and wondering when this boy can join us coz sometimes its quite 'bland' to take food without chili as we gotta share the food portion with him heheee, gd start for the time being, Ian!

Locked Out and Locked IN!!!

After the episode of being locked out of the room and not able to sleep in the usual room with po2, there is a part 2 to the spoilt door knob. Po2 has managed to pry open the door on the next morning and they were all glad they could access to the room freely again BUT that nite, when Ian was going to sleep at nite, he had slammed on the door (to prevent ah gong from going into the room to disturb him) and then lo and behold, the door got locked AGAIN!!!

This time it was Ian and po2 in the room while ah gong was outside and Ian used po2's hp (which happened to be in the room) to make an emergency call to us asking for help as they got locked in the room. And behind the scene was po2 frantically trying to pry open the door again but this time she is more helpless since she has NO tools to assist in opening the door and ah gong who is outside had no energy to pry open the spoilt door knob and it seemed the spoilt door knob was harder to pry than the morning and all seemed desperate for help and we were too far to rush down as it was close to midnite already.

what happened next we only heard from po2 as Ian was still not anxious over the locking in (guess kids at such age do not know the severity of the situation) while po2 and ah gong on the different sides of the door were perspiring trying to 'tear down' the door hahaha and it ended up they just went to zzz at 12midnite and couldn't quite sleep well and po2 and ah gong woke up 6am+ to try to open the door and Ian was KNOCKED out, guess he's the only one who could sleep soundly and then ah gong heard the next door neighbour opened his door and he rushed out to ask for help to pry the door and guess what, that uncle just came over and merely asked for a screwdriver and he managed to turn the door knob....sigh what seemed so impossible task (according to ah gong) turned out such a easy feat all of a sudden and all were relieved when the door was finally opened and guess this was an unforgetable episode for ah gong and po2 (not sure abt the boy since he din know what was the danger since he had his milk, his bed and his comfort of air con in the room sigh)

Just to record down this incidentsss so that Ian will read this when he's grown up =p

Ian goes diaper-less at nite???

Last nite, po2 called to say Ian played with the room's door knob by locking and unlocking with the keys and it ended being locked and could not open with keys thereafter and it was the bedroom Ian shares with po2 and po2 claims there was nothing they needed in the room and mama asked if there was diapers in the other room and that was the ONLY thing that was needed from the room

This morning, mama called to check if the door is fixed but po2 was trying to get locksmith to pry open the door lock and she claimed Ian slept without diaper the last nite and in fact, he woke up to pee and slept again and he din wet the bed wow.....but mama's guess was coz he wasn't used to that room and perhaps he was concious that he was in a diff room and as such din sleep well hhmm lazy mama dun wanna the trouble to wake up to bring him go toilet so wonder if it will sustain back at home and besides we are well stocked with his mamy poko diapers (all thanks to ah gong!) hhhmm shall see

Ian is 43 mths old!

This mth, we see a really TALKING Ian....mama is complaining he is talking too much while his parents are so so so quiet hehheeee well last Sun, Auntie Esther asked if mama taught how to speak hhmm no, he just picked up the sentences on his own or perhaps from us adults talking to him and she commented he's talking quite abit (suspect she was being polite hahhaa) and Ian went on to 'disturb' Auntie Yijie (sorry, u r labelled as Auntie hahaha) that she can't tickle them and they had a chase at church's social hall

The picture above is taken by ah mu during the teacher's day party and Ian was attentively spreading his butter on the bread....the Sun Sch teachers have been commenting that he's talking quite a fair bit in class too, wonder if its for better or not anw just teaching him to talk only when needed and not rattle on and on sigh someone said it might be coz the parents dun talk so much so he talks endlessly...does it make sense??? hhmm not to me!
Ian has kindof mastered his alphabet writing and this was his art piece when he did his writing 1 day while mama was busy cooking and he actually took the camera to take the pic down to show mama in kitchen hhmm that shows how proud he was in showing off his skills ttssskkk anw it did surprise mama altho the writing has lots of room for improvement as some letters are really off but well not complaining much since he's only 3yo BUT he still can't quite write his numbers which we wonder why hhhmm will return to numbers writing soon

This mth, we did a 2nd trek on Bt Timah hill and must say Ian's getting better and ah mu has been quite on abt going more regularly to work out and guess Ian's muscles shld be building up for a boy who has been most lazy at trekking but well we shall start slow....

And of course, the highlight for the mth was CAMPING at DAYI's hostel and this was a shot dayi captured Ian on the BIG bed he could share with dayi and he has been harping on how he could share the big bed with dayi and the day finally came BUT he's not contented at all and after a nite, which he claims is NOT enough and has been bugging us and dayi when he could go stay again and his bugging was endless as he will question why not and WHEN sigh guess that's the question he always has for dayi when he meets her and the next time we prob need prepare him that its for a nite only
Most boys have at least a train set and Ian has always been looking at trains going round and round in malls so when we saw this Thomas train going for a sale, we bought it and surprised him a day and now he could fit the tracks on his own and set the train running and he's most proud of his mini train set that he's telling pple of the train set he has! Glad he's not any train lover so this is prob the only train set we are ever gonna get for him!
Happy 43 mths old, our dear boy! Keep talking and keep checking out on the new happenings going on ard u.....

Grocery + FUN!

We usually shop for grocery at Dawson coz its sheltered to car park and convenient for us and so today we were there for lunch aft church and getting the grocery we needed and in conjunction with children's day, they had some tv set up for kids to play with the 'games' and well we thot they might be too 'tough' for Ian but he had great fun playing the simulation games and here is him holding a mic looking thing and in fact he is catching some 'insects' in the tv as u can see and he just loved it
And here is daddy with the boy guiding him how to catch the insects with the 'swat' he has in his hands, guess this boy never gets tired of having comp games huh, from i-touch to xbox yest and today again and for the game he played he got a lucky dip and he got himself a bag well well what a JOY for the little boy as he got the surprise with our usual grocery shopping!

The day finally came.....

Wonder if Ian knows what it means to be children's day coz he hasn't attended sch and won't know its such a BIG day for kids...anw it was a day spent out of home for us on this day coz dayi brought us out of our usual routine and we hit north n later spent some time with ah gong while Ian took his nap and when he was up, we zoomed into Orchard and later dinner met us for dinner while dayi attended some event.....here we are at Sakae celebrating Ian's day!!! hahaa and he had his fav SUSHI and here's the train kiddy set he got which he enjoyed the soba (tho he had quite a few sushis already) and then the time came when he kept asking where is dayi and when is he going dayi's hostel...yes, the day has come and he gets to stayover at dayi's hostel!!!
We had some gd time shopping at Shaw (and that was the 1st day Lido was closed for reno and so the upstairs seemed dark and was gd that Ian din ask abt movies coz there was where he had his 1st movie in Spore guess will wait a few mths before we could go there for movies) and then we headed home and that boy couldn't wait....here he is with mama's iphone coz he wanna call dayi to ask when she was coming....soon she came and that boy left HAPPILY for his stayover!
What happened next we are not sure except heard that he went bed at 10:45pm and only slept at 11pm+ coz he had so much to ask dayi in bed sigh...what a late nite and that boy woke up at 7:30 ie he had only abt 8hrs+ of sleep...guess he's just excited to explore the new pl and he had a gd bf with dayi getting some food from canteen

And when mama and daddy visited him at the place, he was asking how come we were there hhmm he din quite wanna go home we guess and daddy started setting up x-box for dayi and here's the boy most excited to have his hands on the 'drums', he went on hitting the drums with the sticks! Anw the cable was missing to connect and so he made that the reason for re-visiting dayi's hostel again
And he started singing into the microphone except that the songs were really hippy and he din know how to sing except 'Come on, let's go!!!' and he was in fact happily singing just that 4 words hahaa even we couldn't quite sing the song!

And finally he got his hands on the guitar and this was better for us to play coz we just need to strum according to the color and guess that was the ROCK BAND we had at dayi's room before we venture out for lunch and even then, Ian was most reluctant to go coz he couldn't believe his stay has ended and even when we were at po2's and ah gong's pl, he kept asking dayi whether he could stay over again and guess we could do it later again...for a boy who is ever so keen to stay out of home sigh what could we say! Anw, thanks dayi for taking care of the boy and 'entertaining' him and we were glad we have another person who could look after him should we need couple time hehheee
